American screenwriter and director Jeff Baena. Born in Florida, Jeff was inspired by movies and the cinema's art at an early age, as he grew up watching local art films. He decided to pursue his studies in film direction at NYU Film School. After graduating, he moved from New York to pursue every opportunity. He met Robert Zemeckis (an Oscar-winning director). After submitting an application to work for him, he started assisting Zemeckis as an assistant director in his films. However, fate had different plans for Baena. Baena became acquainted with Zemeckis after a traumatic accident which left her with lengthy periods of relaxation. Baena realized his passion for screenwriting and became co-writer of the comedy 'I Heart Huckabees. Since then, he's concentrated on screenwriting, and went on to direct three films: 'Life after Beth' and 'Joshy. While none of these films received the status of a blockbuster, Baena's unique storytelling has been highly praised by a variety of reviewers of films. Baena currently resides in California, and is constantly developing new scripts.
