George Timothy Clooney was born on May 6, 1961, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Nina Bruce (nee Warren) an ex-beauty pageant queen as well as Nick Clooney, a former anchorman and TV host (who was also brother to singer Rosemary Clooney). Clooney is of German, English, and Irish descent. Clooney grew up in Ohio and Kentucky and went to Augusta High School. Clooney was involved in sports such as baseball and basketball, and was offered a role in a feature movie by Miguel Ferrer. Clooney then began to contemplate acting. Clooney first appeared as Ace on the sitcom E/R (1984). More roles soon followed such as George Burnett, the handsome handyman on The Facts of Life (1979); Booker Brooks, a supervisor on Roseanne (1988) and the detective James Falconer on Sisters (1991). Clooney was first noticed in 1994, when he was cast in a role opposite Anthony Edwards and Julianna Margulies as Dr. Doug Ross in the drama series ER (1994).
