Hugh Jackman

 Hugh Michael Jackman is an Australian actor, singer, multi-instrumentalist, dancer and producer. Jackman's roles as romance, historical and superhero characters in major movies have earned him international recognition. He is most well-known for his long-running part as Wolverine in the X-Men film series, as well as for his lead roles in the romantic-comedy fantasy Kate & Leopold (2001) as well as the action-horror film Van Helsing (2004), the dramatic The Prestige and The Fountain (2006), the epic historical romantic drama Australia (2008) as well as the film version of Les Miserables (2012), and the action thriller Prisoners (2013). The role he played in Les Miserables earned Jackman his first Academy Award nomination as Best Actor and his first Golden Globe Award as Best Actor for Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. In Broadway theater, Jackman won a Tony Award for his role in The Boy from Oz. Four times host of the Tony Awards themselves, he won an Emmy Award for one of these appearances. Jackman was also host for the 81st Academy Awards, which took place on February 22, 2009. Jackman is the youngest of five. His parents, both English relocated to Australia shortly before his birth. The father is also of Greek (from a great-grandfather) and Scottish (from the grandmother) ancestral ancestry.
