Julie Benz, an American actress, is famous for her roles as Darla on the 'Angel' (TV series) and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV series). Rita on Dexter is a different role that she excels in. Benz was a former figure skater, but she decided to quit and started acting. She started with the local theatre and then moved on to film in which she played small parts. With the TV series "Hi Honey! I'm Home", she received her first TV appearance. Before she was chosen for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" She acted in various TV shows. Benz auditioned in 1996 to play the main character on 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer, however, she was offered the role of a lesser one. Seeing her good acting skills the role was extended to an additional few episodes. This was the start of her career that made her more visible. She was also a part of the most popular shows like 'CSI: Miami' and Law and Order. She was named the finalist in 2006 for the role of Rita Bennett on the award-winning show "Dexter". Benz has been praised by critics and has been awarded numerous awards for her outstanding acting.
