Lacey Nicole Chabert was born in Purvis, Mississippi, to Julie (Johnson) and Tony Chabert, a representative for an oil company. She is of Cajun (French), Italian, English, and Scottish roots. Chabert started in drama and music performances in her hometown in Mississippi at an early age. She was also a finalist on Star Search (1983) in 1991. After her debut in a cough syrup commercial She auditioned for Les Miserables on Broadway, where she played the role as Cosette for two years. She's appeared on numerous television shows, such as Party of Five (1994) and a range of telemovies, Gypsy (1993), as well as her debut big-screen appearance, Lost in Space (1998). Her charismatic character and natural acting talents have helped make her a household name. She has also been featured in many commercial jingles and animated TV shows, like Nickelodeon's The wild Thornberries (1998). A highly skilled violinist, she loves a variety of activities, including shoe shopping, and she loves Cajun cooking. Her successful career has resulted in her family moving from Mississippi to California and she is joined by two sisters and one brother.
