Natalie Portman is the only person born in the 80s to have been awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress (for Black Swan (2010)).Natalie was born Natalie Hershlag on the 9th of June, 1981, in Jerusalem, Israel. She is the daughter of Avner Hershlag (an Israeli physician) as well as Shelley Stevens (an American-born artist who hails from Cincinnati, Ohio), who serve as Natalie's agent. Her parents are both of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. Natalie's family emigrated from Israel for Washington, D.C., at a time when she was young. Her family moved several times before they settled in New York. She still lives there to this day. The academic achievements of her allowed her to attend Harvard University. She graduated with high honors. At 11 years old she was approached by a pizza shop agent. She was encouraged to pursue modeling, however she decided that she preferred a career in acting. Although she was in numerous live performances but her first film appearance was made in Leon: The Professional (1994), also called "Leon". Natalie was in the film Heat (1995), Beautiful Girls(1996) as well as Mars Attacks! (1996).
