Pam Grier

 Pamela Suzette Grier (also known as Pam Grier) is an American actress. She became famous after appearing in numerous films that were blaxploitation, such as 'The Big Bird Cage,' 'Coffy,' 'Foxy Brown,' and 'Sheba Baba. The actress was criticised for her blaxploitation roles and returned to the scene in the film of Quentin Tarantino, 'Jackie brown, where she received the Golden Globe nomination. Pam Grier was raised in Winston-Salem in North Carolina. Her father was a former military officer and her family moved frequently throughout her childhood before eventually moving to Denver. She attended East High School and dreamed of becoming a doctor. She was part of various stage productions, and she participated in beauty contests to help raise funds to pay for college tuition. Grier in addition to "Jackie Brown" was also featured in several blockbuster movies, including "Fort Apache, The Bronx" and "Above the Law". She isn't married, however she has been engaged to Kareem AbdulJabbar, a basketball star, and Richard Pryor. Pam Grier was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Sciences by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and an Honorary Doctorate of Science by Langston University.
