Tom Cruise

If you had told Thomas Cruise Mapother IV, a fourteen-year-old Franciscan seminary student that he'd someday be Tom Cruise, one the 100 greatest movie actors of all time, he would probably have smiled and declared that his dream was to become priest. However, this sensitive deeply religious youngster who was born in 1962 in Syracuse, New York, was bound to become one of the highest paid and sought-after actors in film history.Tom is the sole son (among four children) of nomad parents, Mary Lee (Pfeiffer), an educator in special education, and Thomas Cruise Mapother III, an electrical engineer. Both of his parents hail born in Louisville, Kentucky, and Tom is of German, Irish, and English ancestry. Young Tom spent his boyhood always on the move and by the time when he was 14 years old, he had attended 15 different schools in the U.S. and Canada. He eventually settled in Glen Ridge, New Jersey with his mother and new husband. In high school, Tom would like to be a priest but pretty soon his interest shifted to acting and abandoned his plans of becoming a priest. He dropping out of school and when he was 18, he left for New York and a possible acting career. His next 15 years are legendary. His debut in film was Endless Love (1981), an unassuming role was played by him. He instantly demonstrated the appeal of his film to both female and male audiences.
