Marie Osmond

Donald Clark Osmond was conceived on December 9, 1957, in Ogden Utah. His sister Olive Marie Osmond was born on October 13, 1959, in the same place. They were the eighth and fifth of nine children that George and Olive Osmond had. They were faithful followers of the Church of Latter-day Saints (known as Mormons); Marie was the only daughter. Donny Osmond was the son of four of his older brothers. At the age of four, Donny was four years old when he was four, he joined the quintet and sang during Mormon church services. Their perfect harmonies and flawless coordination won over the congregation. They began to perform beyond their home church and eventually were invited to Mormon churches around the western United States. The fame of the group grew and they began to add barbershop-style secular music to their repertoire. Beginning in 1966, Marie was part ofthe family group known as the Osmonds. They were, in the words of Good Housekeeping 's Kate Coyne, "America's von Trapp family: a squeaky-clean lineup of eight Mormon brothers and their little sister, Marie. The Osmonds, managed by their father, were noticed and commissioned to perform by an executive in the Disneyland amusement park, while the family was on vacation there, and with Donny frequently filling in the lead vocalist role as his voice grew, they landed spots on the television variety shows of Jerry Lewis and Andy Williams
