Ameesha Patel

 Ameesha Patel (pronounced [@'mi'sa'p@'te'l]), (born Amisha Amit Patel; 9 June 1975) is an Indian model and actress who is mostly seen in Hindi films, along with a few Telugu films. She made her acting debut in the year 2000 in the romantic thriller film Kaho... Pyaar Hai which was commercially and critically successful , and she was awarded many awards including Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut.Patel became famous in the film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001) which was one of the biggest hits in the cinema history of Hindi cinema. It also earned her an Filmfare Special Performance Award. She made her Telugu film debut with the highly successful Badri (2000).Patel has also been involved in successful films such as Humraaz (2002), Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai (2002) Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. (2007), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) and Race 2 (2013).His grandfather Rajni Patel was a lawyer and Indian Congress's national leader. In Mumbai the street known as 'Barrisrer Rajani Patel Marge was named in his honor in 1986. She is the daughter of Ashmit Patel, and is the daughter of politician-turned-lawyer Barrister Rajni Patel, who was the Congress Pradesh Committee President of Mumbai. She was born in the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and was a certified Bharatnatyam dancer since the age of five.Her name is a combination of the first three letters of her father's name Amit and the last three letters of her mother's surname Asha.She was a student at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and was the head girl during the academic year 1992-1993, prior to going to Tufts University in United States to study Bio-genetic engineering which she pursued for two years, and eventually switching to Economics.
