Jermaine Lamarr Cole, better known as his stage name J. Cole, is an American rapper producer, mixtape producer, and music producer. Jay Z brought him into the spotlight and, thanks to his musical skills and knowledge, Cole made his name in the American hip-hop scene. The first mixtape of his 'The come Up' released back in 2007 when Cole immediately caught the attention of Jay Z, who then acted as his mentor and signed him on immediately to his record label , Roc Nation. under Jay Z's direction, Cole released two more mixtapes in 2009. Cole's debut album from 2011, 'Cole World; The Sideline Story' was released and made an enormous impact on the hip-hop world. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 charts and was later certified platinum. His subsequent studio albums, that also achieved platinum status, were praised by critics as well as fellow musicians. The album was also nominated for the Grammy for Best Rap Album. He is known for being one of the few artists who has never failed to meet the Platinum Standard of Recording Industry Association of America. He has founded Dreamville Foundation for social works and Dreamville Records does the job of promoting new talent that comes from humble beginnings.
