Audrey Hepburn was born as Audrey Kathleen Ruston on May 4, 1929, in Ixelles, Brussels, Belgium. Baroness Ella Van Heemstra was her mother. Her father, Joseph Victor Anthony Ruston was born in Uzice to English and Austrian parents. Audrey moved to London with her mother to attend a private girls' school. Later, when her mother moved back to the Netherlands, she attended private schools too. Hitler's army overtook the town while she was vacationing with her mom in Arnhem. In Arnhem, she was afflicted with hardships during the Nazi occupation. Audrey suffered from depression as well as malnutrition.After the liberation, she attended an academy of ballet in London on a grant and later began a modeling career. She was graceful as a model and it was apparent that she was finding her niche in the world of. Then came the invitation from film producers. 1948
