Simone was born in Detroit, Michigan. Simone was aware of her fate from the start. Simone spent her early years playing and singing before deciding to concentrate on acting. When she was in her very first year as an English major at Howard University, she decided to enroll in a theater for non-majors class. She graduated with a minor of Theatre arts from Howard University following this course. Following graduation, Simone traveled to Oxford, England, where she participated in the British American Drama Academy taking master classes with the greats Ben Kingsley, Alan Rickman, and Jane Lapotaire. After graduation Simone continued to work on her craft in Detroit the regional theatre in Michigan before moving to Los Angeles. Simone played the role of "Misty Knight" in the film "Marvel's Luke Cage" in 2015. Since then, she has reprised her role in "Marvel’s: The Defenders" and Season 2 of "Marvel’s Luke Cage” and "Marvel’s Iron Fist". In the spring of 2018, Simone made her New York theatre debut with Dominique Morrisseau's "Paradise Blue" at the Signature Theatre. Simone is the lead in "Paradise Blue" at the Signature Theatre. She will also be producing the Orion Pictures film "Jinn" that is set to open in theaters this fall.
