Amrita Rao (born 7 June) is an Indian actress and model who is known mostly for her roles in Hindi films. Rao's acting debut was in Ab Ke Baras (2002), which earned her nomination for the Filmfare Award in 2003 for the Best Female Debut. Rao was later featured in several films that included romantic dramas like Ishq Vishk (2003) and Main Hoon Na (2004). Rao also appeared in Vivah (2006), Vivah (2006), and the comedy thriller Masti (2004). The latter made her "Bollywood's most popular girl-next door". She has been awarded the IIFA Award and two Stardust Award She made her debut in the Telugu film industry through the film Athidhi (2007). She was part of the movie Welcome to Sajjanpur (2008), which earned her Stardust Award as Best Actress. The majority of her films did not do well commercially following that. Then, she appeared in the National Award winning film Jolly LLB (2013). Following this, she appeared in films including Singh Saab the Great (2013), Satyagraha (2013) and Thackeray (2019).Rao appeared as the Judge on the reality TV show, Perfect Bride in 2009. In 2016 she made her TV debut with Meri Awaaz Hain Pehchaan Hai. M. F. Husain pronounced Amrita Rao as his second muse and made several paintings dedicated to the actress's role in Vivah.
